Self Portrait vs. the Selfie

A self-portrait is a picture that is planned and set up by the person in the picture. Usually, it is either taken using a timer on a camera or someone else controlling the camera. They also tend to be more sophisticated and formal than a standard candid selfie.

A selfie is different. Selfies are always taken by the person holding the camera, and are typically taken on a digital device, such as a phone. They are usually taken on typical occasions, and one person usually tends to have plenty of them. As a result, they are not as formal as a self-portrait.

In short, a self-portrait usually has a lot more artistic value than a selfie. Selfies are usually used to provide updates regarding settings, moods, and feelings. Self-portraits take a while to get set up.
